ART GALLERY

Deptford Does Art is a multi-site Art gallery in Deptford. Put simply, it is an exciting project aimed at pooling and showcasing Art from around the area in order for local artists to gain exposure and therefore help them sell their work. The project exhibits artwork around the Deptford area, in spaces open to the public such as The Duke pub, The Brookmill, The Jobcentre pub, Deptford Cinema and  other pop up locations i.e Party in the Park.

Keep tabs on what work is where by following our social media accounts, or simply visit your favourite Deptford watering holes (amongst other venues) and search the walls. The art itself is all produced locally, by local artists both established and unknown. The art ranges in type and style, from landscape paintings to pop-art and more abstrac pieces. We also do murals, visual art, and cinematography.

The Deptford Does Art project is now based at No.28 Deptford High Street, SE8 4AF. We are a cafe by day, bar by night and an art gallery with a program of events and workshops. We also have a retail section consisting of framed/unframed prints and locally made arts and crafts. Search for us on Billetto.com or check our Facebook Page for list of events and ticket purchase.

THE PAST AND THE FUTURE

Two years ago Deptford Does Art started as a part time art project run by Zuzana, a manager of a local pub, and it quickly gained a good following. Having exhibited the work of more than 60 artists in several Deptford venues to date, Zuzana was joined by her husband Dan last year to support the demands of its growing success.

“Deptford has a strong sense of community and we have enjoyed meeting so many of its wonderful residents; we love celebrating the culture and creativity it holds. After two years of working with other venues in the area we are now proud to have a permanent gallery space at No.28 Deptford High Street. We have a beautiful basement gallery space exhibiting locally created art and a fantastic cafe and bar. With a rich program of workshops and talks there is much to see and plenty of opportunity to get involved, be creative and meet like minded people from the community.”
